The Cleveland Indians is a professional Major League baseball team. The team is based in Cleveland, Ohio. The team is one of the five teams that play in the Central Division of the American League. The team was formed in 1901 and was originally known as Cleveland Blues in 1901. After playing for two seasons the team changed its name to the Cleveland Naps in 1903, they played under this name for the next 11 seasons. In 1914 the team owner asked for suggestions from local newspapers to come up with a new name for the team. The suggestions that came in inlcuded "Indians". In 1932 the team shifted to a new stadium. The first match attracted a crowd of 80,184. In 1947, the Cleveland Indians became the first American League (AL) team to integrate. In 1954 the team managed to win 111 games and lost only 43 putting together one of the best single-season records in history. On June 4, 1974 the Indians hosted "Ten Cent Beer Night", but had to forfeit the game to the Texas Rangers due to drunken and unruly fans. Many legendary figures have played for the Indians, including Stan Coveleski, Bob Feller, Nap Lajoie, Bob Lemon, Satchel Paige, Gaylord Perry, Frank Robinson, Tris Speaker, and CY Young. The uniform color of the team is navy blue and red and the logo design is one of a "Chief Wahoo," a smiling Indian caricature. The Cleveland Indians have won two World Series Championships, five American League Pennants and six American League Central Division Championship. The Cleveland Indians home ballpark is the Jacobs Field stadium. The stadium has a seating capacity of 43, 345.
