Bucks Info

Milwaukee Bucks is a basketball playing team based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The team was formed in 1968 and joined the National Basketball Association in 1972. In 1971, the team led by guard Oscar Robertson and center Lew Alcindor helped the Milwaukee Bucks to win the NBA championship. This was a record in itself that the team in the third year of formation captured the NBA championship. It was the fastest that an expansion team had won a championship in a major professional sport. The Bucks reached the NBA Finals again in 1974, but they lost. In the 1980s the team was led by such players as Marques Johnson, Bob Lanier, Sidney Moncrief, and Terry Cummings. The Bucks won 50 or more games and the division title for seven consecutive seasons during that decade. In the 1968-69 season the Phoenix Suns also joined the NBA league. The team had to pay an entry fee of $2 million for playing in the league. The 70s team consisted of Jon McGlocklin, Bob Dandridge, Greg Smith, Bob Boozer, Lucius Allen and Dick Cunningham. They helped the team win the Midwest Division. For the next three years consecutively the Bucks managed to reach the playoffs. A very important player in the team was Abdul-Jabbar who earned his third Most Valuable Player award after he led the Bucks in the 1974 NBA finals. In 1978 the head coach of the team was Don Nelson, who led the team to the conference finals in 1978, but the Bucks lost the series three games to four. In 1984, the Bucks managed to reach the semifinals and defeated the 76ers, but were defeated by the Celtics in the conference finals. The 90s was not a winning decade for the team as they managed to compiled only four winning seasons and managed to reach the playoffs only once. The 2000-2001 season was disastrous as some of the prominent players were on the injury list, the team's five top shooters were on the injury list and missed 56 games. The team relied a lot on free agent Anthony Mason who started all 82 games. The uniform color of the team is purple, green and silver. The logo design is the head and shoulders of an eight-point white-tail buck on a triangular background atop stylized "Milwaukee Bucks" lettering. The home stadium of the team is Bradley Center. The stadium has a seating capacity of 19, 000 and cost $90 million and was completed in 1988. The team has one only one NBA Championships in 1972.
