Mike Martz’s team has been able to rely on a strong passing game led by Marc Bulger and multi-talented Marshall Faulk out of the backfield to score enough points to beat most teams in the league. Bulger has thrown three touchdowns but also two interceptions. The offense has stayed away from the running game, giving Marshall Faulk and rookie Steven Jackson combined an average of nineteen carries per game, though they both average more than four yards per carry. The defense is in its first year without Lovie Smith and has proven to be as effective as a sieve against the run allowing over 160 yards per game. With only Seattle providing real opposition to the Rams in the West the team still has a good chance of finishing in second place in the division, but without changes coming the team may find itself sitting at home watching the playoffs for the first time in a while.
